How to care for cotton pyjamas - your essential guide

How to care for cotton pyjamas - your essential guide

It is our ambition, as part of our sustainability commitment that our pyjamas stand the test of time and their incredible quality shines through with their longevity.

Washing your cotton pyjamas

All our pyjamas can be washed in the machine but please remember not to overfill your washing machine. Cotton is quite a hardy fabric but because we use velvet for a lot of our trims and piping; we recommend washing your pyjamas on a 30 degree wash to avoid any fading or transfer of dye from other garments, you can also reduce the spin slightly. It is a good idea to turn your pyjamas inside out to prevent abrasion of the velvet or you could use a gauze bag.

Soap and Detergent for washing your cotton pyjamas

You do not need to use a specific detergent for our pyjamas, however we do love the ethos of female founded, Norfolk Natural Living. All the products are handmade in small batches in Norfolk, it blends plant-based technology with natural ingredients for a deep clean without harsh chemicals.

Drying your cotton pyjamas

We recommend drying your pyjamas on a airer or outside on the washing line. What can be better than the smell of fresh washing on the line, drying in the gentle breeze. We don't recommend you tumble dry the pyjamas as they may shrink. Tumble drying can also cause lots of wrinkles. To avoid wrinkles, shake the pyjamas well when they come out of the washing machine and hanging neatly on the washing line.

Ironing your cotton pyjamas

We love ironed pyjamas and ironed bed linen - it makes going to bed an even better feeling! Norfolk Natural Living have a wonderful linen spray that helps smooth our wrinkles and creases and will make your pyjamas smell divine! Check your iron is on a cotton or linen setting as cotton can withstand a high heat and the steam function will also help. Be careful though not to catch the velvet as this will melt!

Storing your cotton pyjamas

Store your pyjamas neatly folded in a cool, dry cupboard and enjoy wearing them for many years to come.
